My lemon tree stopped all growth in mid-june. Why?

last year

I have an approximately 15 year old lemon tree which is planted in a good sized pot. I have had it for 2 years and it has successfully produced fruit. It had a bit of a bash in the winter where some leaves were dropped but in spring, vigorously made new leaves and flowers and about 20 fruit. I am always mindful that it will drop some fruit as it is a small tree but, since June, all growth stopped. Small buds turned to wood and dropped and all fruit has disappeared. It is well fertilised, regularly with the correct dilutions and well mulched. I can't work out what the problem is. I am living in the UK so the winters can be a problem but the spring and summer is the perfect temp to thrive.
