Go to a good independent framer in your area. Frames are custom cut to fit the size of the art. The framer will have a shop full of frame corner samples to test on the painting.

Ask an artist where they get their stuff framed it is worth the price . I think it is interesting in the 21 century to be hanging commisissioned portraits so not for me but you need to do this justice

We cannot comment without seeing the piece or where it will be hung. The painter will know the best frame shop in the area. Be prepared to spend perhaps nearly as much on good framing as you did on the portrait.
