Keeping 70's blue tub.

Looking to update this small bathroom , while keeping the tub as is- blue. The surround is white tile. We have walnut trim throughout the house, but not adverse to painting if needed. Need new vanity, lighting, toilet. All in same place-not moving fixtures. Do you think I can peel or the blue/grey in the tiles with a similarly colored vanity? Size needs to be 40-42". House is contemporary 70's. All ideas welcome and appreciated! Thanks! I'll add more photos soon as well...

Sorry, meant to say pull out the blue/gray color in the tile, by adding a blue/grey vanity with white top. We love the tile but wondering if we can overcome the rosy/mauve tones in it.

    That tile is *fantastic!*

I’d pull one of the browns and one of the lighter blues out of the tile for the rest of the room - a brown a couple shades lighter than your walnut and a blue a couple more shades lighter than your tub would work great. It’s hard to tell from the photo, but it looks as though there’s either some very dark slate blue or some charcoal in the tile - whichever ir is would work well as an accent. Have fun!

I love your blue tub and tiled floor. Consider a vanity in a similar blue hue.

Check to see if the current Kohler Spring Green, (greenish blue, more green than your tub) or Peach Blow, or Thunder Grey. They make two toilets, and one drop in sink in any of these colors, which is very limited. But since a white toilet and sink won't match the tub anyway, I would try to pull some color from the tile. You may still have to go with white but I would try something else first.

I would not try to overcome or "compensate" for mauvish tones in the tile. If they are there are there you have to work with them, not against them.

What is the matter with the current toilet? Is the blue one already gone?

    Love the tile!

I love these ideas. It is as I thought but needed your eyes as well. We laid the tile 40 years ago and I still love it! Unfortunately we lost the blue toilet to my toddler's antics with toys in toilets. 🤪

I hadn't thought to do a toilet in color but LOVE the idea of finding one in a blue or grey.

If I may beg another opinion- what do you all recommend for plumbing fixture color? Silver tones or gold tones?

    Thanks in advance. 😊

    Beautiful floor!

Stained wood vanity, walnut color or slightly lighter. Will go with the 70s vibe. Does the floor tile extend under the vanity? If so, I'd love to see a wall hung vanity.

Room and Board has a lot of vanities, come in many different wood stains, or painted grey, and other colors, plus a variety to tops, or purchase your own tops. They have a vibe that lifts well in a 70s type home.

Polished chrome for your plumbing and fixtures.

Please post more photos of the room!

We really need to see the shower tile, the current vanity set up (to recommend vanities and lighting)….and yes to painting the wood trim in the room as then you have more flexibility with vanity finishes. The countertop will play a key role and probably a solid white to match your shower tile white tone.

Here's the bathroom from both doorways and standing in tub. Looking to replace vanity, lighting, window covering (currently an 80s mauve mini blind), and toilet. I'm thinking about a grey or grey blue vanity white top , probably grey with legs.

Would love ideas for lighting, etc. For reference the house is built in 70s with walnut trim throughout. I'm not adverse to painting the trim and/or doors if needed. Doors go to a bedroom and hallway.

We're even thinking of putting in a non opening transom window in the wall over the top of the long tub wall to let in more light from hall skylight.

Thanks in advance for all your fresh ideas!
