Siding Replacement

I am having the vinyl siding replaced on my 25 year old house. The contractor has suggested using hardie plank siding. Looking for insights into vinyl vs hardie plank. Also, I would appreciate thoughts on the color - including doors and shutters. The rock fireplace in the front has more colors of more gray/blue. The same stone is used for the foundation. The doors and windows are also being replaced. Will stay with the white frames. I lean towards more traditional colors.

Tip: If you open your favorite search, like maybe Google, and enter vinyl vs hardie, you will find lots of info.

As for colors. closer images of your stone will help, as will saying the roof color.

I'll suggest you consider no shutters as they are rather traditional and you have a more contemporary home.

Thank you! I did the google search but was hoping to hear thoughts from pros or people who may have had the hardie plank. The roof is a blue color. More photos attached.
