Curtain rod placement

last year

Hello - we have a new bed and have just ordered the new bed frame. Our bed sits in front of a shallow alcove with windows. This is the best spot for the bed due to size, doorways leading to the house, the en-suite bath and an exterior deck.

We are leaning towards box/pinch pleat lined linen curtains. Suggestions welcome!

The bed headboard will be about 44” tall (not pictured). The plan is to add curtains for both aesthetic and for room darkening.

Should a wall to wall curtain rod line up with the top of the window trim, above or below, or at ceiling above flat crown trim? We are planning for long (just above the floor) curtains with the bed pulled slightly forward of the curtains.

Mount below crown and above header of window trim
other - please comment
Mount above crown trim (ceiling)
Mount in line with top of window trim
