PLEASE HELP with tile layout!

last year

we are using this decorative tile which is 18x48 to be laid horizontally (48 wide) on the focal wall of this small bathroom. the framed area is 60" wide (btwn right wall and jut out wall by tub) pic of bathrm isnt 100 percent accurate.. (30" for vanity area and 30" for toilet area) room is 90" tall. THis tile seems like it would be better if we make as few cuts as possible due to the size and texture in the tile. to that end. would it be weird if i laid full 48" pcs on the left side and made the 12" cut tile grout line (which would hardly be visable i think anyway) run up the right side. bec most of that grout line would be behind the vanity 34" tall and the 40" mirror. the faucet is 8 7/8" high. so you would see the grout line there and at the ceiling level you would have about 12-13" of visable space . which shouldnt matter. i think. please advise! thank you

even though it sounds strange to lay it like that, wouldnt i get the best possible outcome without having to cut these tiles so much?

the cut edge will show more than you think.

can you center the 48" wide tile and use a different style of tile to frame out the accent?

i was thinking of that but not sure how it would look. becauase then the vanity would be "off" if i framed it in a solid tile for eg. i also need to see the finished measurement of the wall once the drywall is intalled. its gonna be a bit less than 60" . anyway. the planned option is to cut each pc approx 30" and have the grout line go up the center. using finished edges obv in the center line.

you could also cut it intentionally and add a pencil/jolly tile for an additional accent.

not sure how that would help. if i am gonna cut it i guess i would cut it in the center and run the grout line up the center of the wall

I would not do that. your vanity and toilet are not centered in the 60"

the 18" separations will show a line too. Is the 60" openin already defined?

So what if people notice there is a grout line? It is tile and people expect to see seams and grout lines somewhere! As long as the cuts are clean and cut at the proper size to make the pattern flow correctly, then I wouldn't complicate things.

The tile guys I have used in the past, would probably split the 60" and cut the full tiles down to 30" (less grout spacing). You waste more tile, but have symmetry in the pattern.

A good tile guy would dry fit everything on the floor with the exact tiles he was going to use and show you exactly where the cuts will be and how it would look. He would then mark the tiles and direction to be laid and follow the plan.

yes i assume this is the safest way to go. the cuts would be approx 29" wide ea. was just thinking out loud that if i used whole tiles to the left side and made the grout line 10" or so away from the right wall, most would be covred by vanity and mirror. im really not sure how a cut edge is gonna look on this tile. but its inevidible i guess

the grout line would be there. does that make sense at all. in an effort not to have cuts. or forget about that issue

obv the tile would go across the whole wall. jsut showing you where the cut would be. where the grout line would be. it would run behind the vanity and the mirror. if we do it that way
