what’s missing in this space?

last year

Hi everyone, I found these Iron and velvet benches that I really liked and put them against that wall across from the stairs. I don’t know if I should keep the artwork, use a different piece of art or place a nice mirror there instead. Also, should I do sconces on either side? An art lamp above the painting maybe? And table or no table (if a different table i’m open to suggestions, just had that brass one laying around)

A fabulous mirror to coordinate with the formal crystal chandelier would look much better than the gray concrete-look artwork. Do the iron and velvet stools have a purpose such as occasional seating or are they just decorative?

The benches are enough, I wouldn't try to squeeze in a table . The art is a good size for the space, you don't need additional lights unless you want to replace it with something smaller. Mirrors need to be placed to reflect a nice view, but the view here would just be of the staircase, so I don't think a mirror would be any improvement. What does bothers me though is that the dark color of the benches doesn't relate to the light color of the art. I would either recover the benches in a lighter color or get some art that includes the color of the bench seats, and hopefully that of the dining set as well.

art where the gray board is

Hard no on the itty bitty table. As placed, it’s an elbow banger.

no mirror, it just adds visual clutter.

an art piece the same size as the panel you have. a picture light to help light the space and accent the art.

You could have somebody recover that gray Square rectangle where we want to call it with something that will go with the stools and your walls are beige or you could get something else there maybe something round?

What is on the wall across from the two doors? It would help to see what this whole space looks like.

The stools are great. Push them together so no gap between, and hard no on the table.

The thing that is so off about this space is that the spot lights that are shining on nothing. Can you direct the left spot to shine on this little seating painting area?

I would not coordinate your upholstery with the artwork. Just personal preference but it drives me nuts.

Why would this location be the right place to sit down? I don't get it.

Also those benches are always placed like you see below. The metal frame goes in the front and back, not turned sideways like you have them placed.

No to sconces on either side. None of us like the art, but taste in art is very individual and if you like it, keep it.

Actually you don't need the table between the benches or the stools whatever you want to call them and if you don't do the scone lights you can lease do art along piece of art like showing above or paint the one you currently have and put splatters or something on it to her two tone it somehow and you could put a lamp on top of the art there's art lamps that go up there at Clips on somehow

No benches and lower the art on the wall.

The plant looks nice there but plants usually need light you'd have to have a plant that don't need no light at all otherwise you need a plant light

Unless you like an artificial plant or perhaps an artificial plant tree?

I think the location calls for a more dramatic piece of art. The gray, nearly solid piece is uninspired in this context. I looks like neutrals appeal to you, but try branching out here, it might really wow you. Also, the size of the current piece is perfect, but it's currently hung too high.

To those two doors go to a basement and an entry or a basement in a closet?

I love the look celery posted with the art.

It does look nice without the benches. Do you have another place they could go?
