This nursery is located in MD not far from our home. This morning one of their articles caught my eye since we may have another alternative for keeping these pests at bay. This year, so far, the population seems less here this year (knock on wood) and perhaps its due to the constant rain we've had.

Japanese beetles are here again. You may see them on your shrubs, especially roses. One important thing to know is that when they start feeding on your plant, they leave off a pheromone smell that attracts many more beetles to the buffet. So, it’s important to spray as soon as possible to prevent your plant from becoming skeletonized.

After much testing the best spray we have found is Eight Garden and Home or BioAdvanced Insect, Disease & Mite Control.

If you have them in your garden, there is an organic option—Captain Jack’s Deadbug Brew. It works slowly and needs to make contact with the beetle, but it is safe and seems to be effective.
