It's simple CMU/concrete masonry units, like any house foundation, school or office building has. Great masons can make the most banal materials look great. Both the indoor & outdoor fireplaces are Rumford style- which push more of the heat out in the space. Authenticity was a big deal for these home owners- so what you see is what you get!!
