the sky is the limit. Do you plan to rearrange the appliances and lower the countertop wall for a wider top or a total gut and start over? a budget? Where is the family room?

Looks like the flooring extends throughout the main floor, are you up to changing the layout of the kitchen? Too many questions, to give suggestions. More photos needed, where is the refrigerator? What is that other room for? and the one behind the ovens...

Get your 100K+ money in order and hire a good kitchen designer, ASAP. You've got a lot of systems rearranging ahead if you want to make that functional.

The more detailed info with scaled floorplan you can post, the more ideas with good function we can provide. Add measurements for doors and windows. Do the entire floor.

Right now, as Lyn said, just about anything can be done -- you just need the $$$$ to do it!

I realize you may not be able to get us measurements yet if you haven't closed on the home -- unless the sellers are willing to let you come by for measurements. It can't hurt to ask!

The 'half wall high top'--are you talking about wall between the kitchen and the dining room? I think you will find that higher bit of wall keeps you from staring at a kitchen you just cooked in while you are eating. I would call that a good thing especially because the sink is on that stretch of counter. There are no stools at the island, is that for staging or did the sellers realize no one wants to sit at a counter near a cook top? What is to the far right in the picture? It appears more cabinetry that is not the same color as those pictured. What are your wants in a kitchen that make it 'updated' in your opinion. Modern kitchens have islands, cook tops vs ranges, to the ceiling cabinetry, two different color cabinets, plainer wood cabinetry,--so many of the features that are existing. Is that a double back splash or wall paper to the right of the ovens?

That is no easy fix. It will require a lot of expensive work, with professional labor. Start with finding the kitchen designer who will help you through the process.

I agree^^^looks fully functional while you wait and learn the home, understand the obstacles around shifting appliances as well as budgeting.

As someone else suggested - hire a kitchen designer and be prepared to spend money.

IMO you never undetake a huge renovation in a new to you home . Kitchens are a hge expense to redo and need real thought before doing anything . I agree in 6 months you will know what you like and what you do not like in that space and then come back here witha to scale plan on graph paper nothing in the plan but maybe the plumbing if it can't be moved . I hate raised bars they hide nothing unless all your guests are under 42" tall The floors lok to be in good shape chances are nit under the island .Too soon to make decisions IMO

That needs a reimagining and major surgery. Paint and new lights might make it fresher to you, but it cannot fix the massive functional deficits that it has. Get moved in.Find a kitchen designer. Find 100-400K, depending on if the rest of the house is weird and dysfunctional too.
