Looking for Easy Ideas: Window & Wall Decor ideas for 1 Window Bedroom

Good morning! I could really use some fresh ideas for sprucing up this guest bedroom in my Phoenix rental. It’s got a neutral color vibe, a pretty carved headboard, and not much else going on yet. I’m especially stuck on….

What to do for window coverings that look good and give some privacy. The curtains on the bed are a grayish blue and they’re blackout curtains which I think might make this small room look even smaller?

How to add some personality to the walls while keeping a minimalist vibe? I’m open to painting and I do have a few different wallpaper options on hand.

I’m into cozy, minimalist, renter-friendly options that are budget-friendly, maybe a way to repurpose something or a DIY option could work too. Would love to hear what y’all would do here. Thanks in advance!!! 😘

Are you the renter or the owner?

Adding one very large artwork would provide some interest if you avoid bland artwork typical of a hotel. Not a big print from Ikea, either.

Is that the only wall you can use for the bed? The window is taking away from the carved headboard.

Could the bed be positioned this way? The headboard would stand out and some fabric on the windows, (try the gray ones you have...and stack back just to one side.

If the bed has to stay against the window, consider opaque sheers across the entire wall.

Or, put the gray drapes you have and either sheers on the rod to hang behind the headboard, or get a light blocking shade.

If the bed has to stay as is, no matter what treatment you decide to do, pull it out and away from the window.

I am not a fan for blocking the window. Could you turn bed this way? It would elevate bedroom.

Regardless of how tight it might be, don't block the window with the headboard.

Positiion the bed on a solid wall so the headboard is the feature and you don't block the window.

for a calm, serene feel, keep all the colors in the same family.

Layer the window with a blind and drapes. Keep it simple, one framed piece of art is plenty. Your headboard is the feature!!!!

Is bed in that location just until room is painted (which looks like is needed) or can’t accommodate any other configuration? Perhaps a smaller dresser and a closet organizer would go a long way towards providing more space to move bed’s location.

Curtains: if privacy is required black outs can’t be used during the day so will need blinds or sheers as well. Decor/accessorizing: bedding is a good jumping off point and paint the room last. Look on Marketplace, try Target, second hand stores, Walmart and Amazon. Look on line for inspiration and suggest using neutrals for the basics, adding bluish/grey accessories..
