I grew ToC in Fla. years ago. I remember wanting to get rid of it after 2 years but was talked out of it by a top-notch rosarian, Dr Alcault. I just ignored it for 2 more years. Just took care of it with the rest of my roses. During the fall of it's 4th year, I realized it was as big as the monster Moonstone it was planted next to. All those spindly thin canes were now thicker then my thumb supporting big, beautiful blooms.

Ken, thanks, guess it gets 2 more years then, maybe. Was Dr. Alcault referring to Florida or anywhere? The canes are definitely spindly, too, and lack of beautiful blooms.

Ben, thanks. I do love the form and color of ToC, but so far it’s a repeat of past experience, stingy and blackspot…🤷🏻‍♀️

According to my records, I got Touch of Class in 2004, and gave it away to a friend in 2010. I used to note the ARS rating in my database, and I have it as 9.0, which shows that it was spectacularly highly rated by the exhibitors back in the day (a 9.0 was rare). I say exhibitors, because it was mostly they who were rating the roses in the triennial survey... and I like and appreciate exhibitors. All I remember is that the bloom was very pretty and that it had no fragrance. But there had to be a reason I gave it away :-D

Susan, Yes, you grew it 6 yrs and then gave it away and never replaced it…there had to be a reason.
