Lovely room, I would simply paint the crown moulding, not highlight it.

Beautiful room, so much potential! I LOVE the dark wood baseboard and trim around the windows. IDK how I feel about the suggestion to paint out the crown moulding. I don't like it as-is, it's much too thin, but adding a thicker dark wood moulding that matches the rest of the trim might be a better way to go.

Sorry, no help with lighting. I'm 100% a recessed light fan, I hate hanging light fixtures so I'm useless with suggestions there.

The electrical boxes next to the windows are completely useless. What can fit in that small amount of space?

For the far wall I would select a plaster shell uplight sconce of some design.

It would help if you've already determined the best layout for furnishing the space. Then you'll get a better vision for lighting needs. I can imagine a couple table lamps as well as arched floor lamps will give options for lighting needs. From what I can tell, there aren't too many outlets in the room so may need to address that also. It's such a lovely space, look forward to seeing your updates.

Agree 100% with @jackowskib. Add more outlets since in 2025 we need more than they ever did in the era of this Tudor.

I prefer tables and lamps in a living room. My house has high ceilings with horrid recessed lights that have never been turned on (except once, when I was curious how they looked- they’re not conducive to a living room IMO.).

Table lamps and floor lamps are needed fo sure and best when planned with furniture arrangement . I think you need to be careful with that interior to also respect the home style in this case .I also agree more outlets and maybe LED bulbs to keep the electrical draw down depending on the panel . I can see modern in there but carefully done. I hate wall sconces since they almost always are exact;y where I want to hang art

Can you guys recommend a furniture layout? This will be our family room with a tv over the fireplace.
