This should not have been the "contractors" decision if it would look good or not. You're dime you're decision, or at least the conversation should have taken place before tile #1 was installed.

1. A lot of it depends on context. What does the rest of your bathroom look like? What style is your vanity, shower doors, floor tile, lighting? This stacked look is quite modern and feels slightly institutional to me, but again context is everything.

2. I do not like the line going through the niches at all. That looks very off.

3. Why the multiple joint lines in the shower bench?

Contractors are not designers. The layout should have been determined and planned and instructions given to them as to how to do it.

I like it - I am 'modern girl' I even like the line through the niche. I don't like the bench - those groutlines should line up to the tiles behind.

Yikes. Those lines through the niche are not good. It makes it look very unplanned--the niche should have been built to the the size of one tile, or a bit smaller. I would run to a tile store and find a subway tile in a cool white. Install it stacked horizontally.
