Should I have crown redone?

We are at the end of our kitchen renovation. I had intended the crown above cabinets on the left to extend all the way around to cabinets on right. The crown is 3 pieces and they only installed one if them. I’ve asked it to be replaced and they want 500 in labor plus cost of material - crown is manufactured by cabinet company. Should I move forward with this or just leave as is? Also, interior window will be painted white.

Agree with others - it looks perfect! Adding the extra crown would add more busy-ness that you don't need since there's a lot going on already.

And, as others have stated, since it's not normal to have cabinet molding on the walls, it will likely look "wrong".

If, however, you have your heart set on it, what does your contract say? Did you sign off on the design with the molding along that wall? If so, they should not be charging you to match what you agreed to.

Aside: I love your counters - they look gorgeous!

It is done the way it ought to be done. Walls don’t get crown riser.

And do NOT paint the window. There is WAY too much hospital white already.

Thank you - we are still missing hardware, rug, art, etc. so will not look as sterile when finished. Appreciate the feedback.

That is how the crown is typically done. If you had a huge stack with multi layers, then you would carry more across. It looks great!

I would paint the window a fun color! Love the dark counters!

I would have just had the crown above the cabinets and not carried it over across the non-cabinet wall.

Love your counters. What material are they? Of course paint the window. Nothing about this seems hospital white. What a lovely space. I hope you post the final results.

Thank you all. We are going to leave as is. I think it was a miscommunication between myself and the contractor of what i had expected. The countertops are msi black soapstone and I’m very happy with them.

It looks beautiful! I, too, love the counters. Also, I don't think I've ever seen Minardi call anything perfect, so you should count that as a win! :)

It looks great as is.

Hard to tell without seeing the rest of the room but the window muntins might look great painted a soft black. You can try it out virtually by uploading a photo to one of the paint company websites.
