Just checking in

last year

Our miserable hot and humid weather is over, at least for a few days. I heard a new term the other day--corn sweat. Apparently the corn can transpire so much moisture that it raises the humidity. I have lived in Indiana all my life and didn't know that. And we have corn fields right beside us. No wonder it has been so miserable.

Today was beautiful with a nice breeze. We did get some work done even though the tiller quit workin and the tractor had a flat tire and we can't get a replacement for a few days. It has been one disaster after another here--air conditioner went out, dishwasher broke down, the gator battery went dead. I hope that's the end of it.

Last Chance for Love is in full bloom today.

Here is Bob pollinating it. Please don't look at the weeds. We got behind this spring and never caught up.

Deadliest Catch has been nice this year.

This is probably the last bloom on Ruby Grandeur.

This is a hardy hibiscus. I don't know its name.

That's all for me.

Nancy

Last Chance for Love looks great in that clump! The only thing I have still blooming as a clump is my near white seedling. I'm down to that and a few rebloomers.

I hope you get some nice babies with those seeds Bob is creating, what a great daylily Last Chance is. Getting the weeding done has also been a problem here. No more problems for you!.

Ruby Grandeur is quite bright and beautiful! Last Chance looks to be quite tall!

Sorry about all the disasters; Here's hoping for no more of them.

I wonder if there is such a thing as ”hay sweat”! We live in the middle of hay fields and humidity has been ferocious!!! lol

Last Chance is a massive blooming plant!! And tall too!! The red hibiscus is pretty. Maybe all your problems descended at once. Our AC went out on a weekend but fortunately our local heat and air repair company works on weekends in case of emergencies. We decided having no air in 115 heat index weather qualified as an emergency!

Nice grouping of pics. The clump pic of Last Chance For Love is gorgeous. Sounds like you've had your fill of "what else can go wrong". We too have gotten some much cooler temps but I'm sure the heat will return. This morning we were at 59F.

It sounds as if you are having as much fun as we are with the disasters too. What a time for one after another thing to go wrong.

Well, I can add one more to the list. I had my hip replacement surgery on the 14th of August. I felt that the recovery was going slowly, but since it was 2012 since my last hip replacement, I thought I might have forgotten how difficult it was. It was about to get worse though. I developed a pulmonary embolism last Saturday and just got out of the hospital today. I am fine, but I feel like the hip recovery has taken a couple of steps backward.

Oh my goodness, Nancy! am so glad you came through that Pulmonary embolism . That is such a dangerous thing to have happen to you. Joint replacements are the very devil too, aren't they? It has only been 10 days and the pulmonary embolism didn't help the recovery.

I have no clue why these italics are here and I can't get rid of them. I hope your recovery speeds up and you are back to your regular self soon.
