A shameless brag!

last year

As a girl growing up in Chicago going to events with my parents in Chicago’s Grant Park, I never dreamed I’d go there as a grandmother with my own kids and gkids last Monday to see one of my granddaughter’s perform in the park’s fabulous Millenium Park! And tonight, this Grandma Groupie is going to Madison WI to see gdtr’s band, Horsegirl, perform again with some of my kids and gkids!

In a few minutes I’m leaving my house in Milwaukee County to have an early dinner with Nora and a few of her cousins, aunts and uncles, maybe Penelope and Gigi,too! Grandpa will sit this one out because he isnt responding well to the awful Canadian smoke alarms we’ve been under for days, but I cannot resist! i haven’t flown to any of their shows in europe, australia, or the rest of the US, and I'm not going to Tokyo in september, either, but Chicago, Milwaukee, St Louis, and Madison are all very doable!

Nora met her two bandmates while they were children taking music lessons in chicago. I have no idea how many times Grandpa and I have watched the girls perform over the years, but to see them performing on stage as accomplished, polished, educated young women leaves me almost speechless. While Horsegirl has been touring the world promoting their albums for the past two years and getting great reviews, Nora majored in English and graduated in four years with honors from NYU in May, Penelope will graduate from NYU next May, and Gigi is focusing on music. (I almost feel like I’m not giving enough credit to Nora’s intellectual accomplishments by being so excited about musical success, but believe me, we are celebrating that, too!)

Gotta go to Madison now! As another girl group sang years ago ”I’M SO EXCITED! AND I JUST CAN’T HIDE IT!”

    I’ve been trying all day to post pics and a recap of last night’s event but my posts just keep disappearing when i press submit Very frustrating.

    But i do sincerely thank you all for helping keep my afterglow bright today. Seriously, we had a wonderful time last night at the sold out show. we stayed after the show talking with Nora and her mates, and frankly i was dazzled by the fans—FANS!!!—who hung around for an hour to get autographs and buy merch. Oh my, it was a lot of fun and excitement. Thank you. :-)
