Are you replacing an existing fence? Why do you need a fence in the front yard of your house?

Where I live (So Cal), lots of people are capturing their front yards, maybe because lots are small in these tract areas. But most are doing horizontal boards, like this, or even taller. But for low maintentance, you could just do Trex instead of wood. Lots of color choices.

You don't say where you are, but people on a bigger budget around here do slumpstone/stucco and wrought iron as well, but that would cost more.

I would do green. It nearly disappears against a lawn. A building my neighborhood has a green fence that I believe is the material you are talking about. It is so unobtrusive and looks great.

I like the white awning and trim with the grey fence. Looks like you have a grey roof, so it balances out nicely.

Lisedv: Most front yards here are large lawns and not fenced. I'm reducing size of lawn, adding landscape plants, and fencing to allow dog in front.

Ms. S: The horizontal look is nice; however, I want something more open that invites people to stop and chat. I may look at Trex and see what I can do. Kudos.

Kendrah: That's kind of what I thought the green would do i.e. disappear. Can you possibly post a picture? It doesn't look too industrial for a residential setting?

How large is the dog?

For small dogs, it is very common around here to have open fences like split rail, backed up by practically invisible turkey wire.

When I've seen the lobster wire in a fence, it has been in panels framed with lumber or Trex.

Can you tell me the approximate size of the squares in the fence you show? are they that large?

Design Fan: Not really, no. But there will be a dog treat station outside of fence at the corner with possibly Liriope.

Mad-gallica: Yeah, I thought of something like Hog wire framed in lumber but don't want the maintenance wood would require. Maybe Trex framing?

I suggest black as it's the best colour for this kind of fence to not be obvious.

Is that your house you show ? I do not see your other post but I need to see your house not some random house with a fence you ar eplanning.

Between the gray and white fencing I will choose white. The gray just looks dingy.

I would use black chain link were it me. If you have to use the Riverdale, still black but they do not appear to be an actual fence company (from the link above) so you still need a way to have it made into a complete system.

White will be more visible than the gray (or black or green) even with shrubs/plants. So, it depends on what you would like. Do you want people to notice the fence or would you rather it disappeared with the plantings? Up to you really.

I have black wrought iron fencing with gates on two sides separating front yard from back that is visible from the sidewalk, although it definitely recedes from view and a section of black chain link in the back which is completely invisible (trees and shrubs in front). There is also a lot of low wooden fencing that neighbors put up and some 6-ft wooden fencing between properties that was put up on the property line in the 60s and never changed. The tall wooden fencing is definitely noticable even with tall shrubs and plantings on my side.

DO NOT place the fence on the edge of the sidewalk.

Placing the fence in about a foot from the sidewalk edge makes a more intesting and graceful transition.

It really depends what you want. Is the fence intended to stand out and be a design element? Then white. Is it supposed to blend in and be easily seen through and the focus her yard and plants, then do black.

EGADS, how does one delete a post or stop comments? I appreciate all the feedback, but I've moved on to a different post, having found what I wanted all along. Yippee! It was so very discouraging to think I had to go with something I didn't really want i.e. white or gray wire. Now I just need to find someone, preferably on the West Coast, who has what I want (brown aluminum fence in a 36-inch tall with close picket spacing or at least a puppy picket).

Now that you have posted you found a solution, the responses should stop.
