My Guacamole is not Guacamole

The large Guacamole that I purchased in the spring turned out to be solid green. I checked myhostas.be and there are two solid green sports of Guacamole. Should I just pick one and call it that?

They're only reversions if they go back to where they came from. In 'Guacamole's case that'd be 'Fragrant Bouquet', the origins of which are a bit of a mystery as it is one of the infamous Paul Aden registrations but it's safe to assume FB came out of streaked parent(s). In the case of 'Guacamole' a green shoot qualifies as being a sport since a reversion would mean going back to FB.

There are plenty of examples of green sports out of variegated varieties. 'Revolution' for example is rather prone to green sports, quite a nice one too in its own right, I refer to that as "Green Revolution". Then there's 'Risky Business', it too is prone to green sports which look rather similar to 'Green Revolution'. I call these "Outta Business" but they don't have the same substance to its leaves as GR because GR is out of a polyploid and OB is out of diploid.

I've been mostly absent this summer. Sorry. There are so many chores, it's hard to keep up

I am thinking I will have to change the name on mine. It stayed a nice color of lime green all season.

July in Florida was harsh. Like August a month early. Liberty going down also.

You may have "fried yellow tomatoes". It's mentioned in myhostas.be, but there is no photo in the hosta library.

My hosta look terrible this summer. It wasn't that hot, as we've just had a hand full of 100 degree days. But, it rained almost every day from start of spring to the end of June.

I may have lost some for staying too wet, which is VERY unusual. Of course, they are ones I really like. One is Elvis Lives and the other is LS Midnight Miss. I've been trying to get more of Tony Avent hosta, as they say he breeds for southern areas. They aren't that easy to find.

This apparently is 'Fried Yellow Tomatoes' which supposedly is out of 'Green Fried Tomatoes'. I'd call this borderline yellow, it's more chartreuse to me but having said that this looks to be a picture of a plant still unfurling and I haven't found a picture of it as a more mature plant... Looks like I will have a Fried Green Tomatoes also. I may need to make a new bed just for reversions..

When I got my plant, it was a nice shade of lime green and stayed that way. It was a good-sized plant with roots on steroids. There were two spikes on it sides that even though it got a repot they never did anything. Now that the main heat is over, the spikes have decided to come on out. Now, I believe, they have the Guacamole stripes. Hostas be crazy.

One is blooming right now, and it is fragrant. I am going out again. That smelled real good.
