I would paint the chairs a nice bright color it is all just flat with no dimension in the space and often when you change soomething it takes time to get used to it . I like the palin no frills wall it allows you to do something much more interesting in that seating area. If the awnings were thr to control the sun then now you need solar shades inside to do the job

Along with landscaping, consider beefing up the window trim.

Beefing up the window trim ,possibly using same colors as the chairs will really pull together a pleasant .
