Help with small half-bath layout

last year

I'm planning a new small half bath in an existing house. The space available will be no larger than 47x55 once it is closed in (could be as small as 46x53: we're tiling the walls halfway up and I'm trying to account for that). The space is accessed with a door on one of the narrower walls. What is the best layout? Having done some online research, it seems to me that it would work best to have both the toilet and the sink on the opposite wall as you enter the bathroom (the other narrower wall). I purchased a Horow corner sink (12.6" long) and a Horow round toilet (25" long) for this purpose. Basically, the sink would go on the back wall in the corner, and the toilet also would be on the back wall, centered in the space not being used by the sink (so the toilet would have around 34" of width for it to go in: approximately 46.6" - 12.6" = 34"). This seems to me that it would work well, as we have a toilet in a 32" wide space in our upstairs bathroom and it doesn't feel too narrow. The toilet would have around 28-30" in front of it, which seems more than necessary from what I have seen online.

However my husband would prefer if both the toilet and the sink were on one of the longer walls (i.e., on the right or the left wall as you come in). I'm skeptical of this because I think you wouldn't have enough room for your legs when you sat on the toilet, and I think it would make it feel awkward to get in and out. Or he would prefer if the toilet and sink were on separate walls. Given how small this space is, what is the best half bath layout?
