What is the LENGTH of the panels you purchased? Pleated, with rings, tab WHAT?

You don't want a gap at hem to/floor. They should touch...... but not puddle. So where you hang, depends what you purchased and HOW it hangs. Meaning, tabs, grommets, pleats who knows?

What length are your panels? Unless you plan on hemming them, their length is going to dictate where you hang the rod.

This graphic has good advice about window treatments. The pooling advice is dated, everything else is spot on.

The above 'advise' really really really depends on they type of home you have. It really isn't a one size fits all as the graphic assumes. It also mostly works when your curtains are closed and most of us look at the windows spend time in rooms when curtains are open. You don't have casings. Often people are trying to show off casings. There are those who think it's a huge uplift of a room to hang curtains up against the ceiling. Others don't find the effect dramatic enough to deal with the raised eye brows when your curtains leave a huge gap between the window and the curtain rod. It looks just silly when curtains are open. I also think one ought to consider how the windows sit on the wall. Yours are lower. Hanging curtains far above the window when there is less space below the window to the floor again doesn't fit the style of window. My goal is to get as much light and ability to view the outside when hanging curtains so I want my curtains to stack off the window when they are open. I would strive to have the panels just barely touch the floor. What Jan said is probably what's most done as hemming seems to be a lost craft.

I just want to mention my panels are 95”. I have made drapery, curtains and cornice boards so hemming them is what I planned on doing. They have hidden tabs on the back, that slide on the rod.

Great advice about how low my windows are on the wall. I never considered that. I also want as much light as possible and plan on extending them off to either side to allow for light. my main concern was rod height. I ordered a longer panel with the intention of hemming to give me the flexibilty of rod height placement.

I'd go to the ceiling 2 - 3 inches below the crown.

The general advice is to hang them halfway between the window and the ceiling. But, since you can do them any height, I'd test out some different heights. Hang the panels on the rod and have a helper hold the rod up over the window. The one thing I wouldn't do is hang them right up against the ceiling.

If you plan to machine wash and dry the panels, do that before setting the new hem and the rod height. The initial shrinkage can be large or small depending on fiber content, weave, and construction. 100% polyester panels may stretch out with time just to complicate things. Allow a little wiggle room in the distance from the floor.
