Is it normal to have a gap between wall and window trim?

Is it normal to have a gap between the wall and window trim? Moved into apartment recently and noticed this pretty sizeable gap that goes all the way along the window trim. Actually only noticed because bugs are coming in through it. Apartment maintenance has been unhelpful so preparing to try to fix it myself if possible.

Cannot tell much of anything from 3" away but at the end of the day the bugs are showing there. From what I can see does not look out of the ordinary. They are getting in elsewhere. The gap at trim to wall connection is purely aesthetic and no to keep bugs out. Look for another area the bugs are coming in as fixing the wall trim gap will only lead to them coming out a different way.

Caulk between trim and wall is normal because walls aren't perfectly flat and straight. You could get some white latex caulk to carefully fill that gap, a wet finger to smooth and wet rag to clean up wall and trim are helpful.

Not uncommon or even a "defect". Bit of paintable caulk and some painters tape to make sure you don't have any smears outside the gap to be covered should be all you need.
