I think it definitely will. But if you look closely, these appear to be florist arrangements and maybe no actual garden roses. I think it's still a great thing for rose gardens, though!

Yes, I agree with ElfRosa - it is not a garden - it is a very pretty florist's display. I guess that this is a modern version of the old "engagement photo" that people used to have professionally photographed to be in the society section of the newspaper with the announcement of their engagement. Not bad to resurrect an old tradition by updating it.

It's clearly an upscale venue used for such things. It's easy for them to insert whatever roses desired for the event onto the bushes and arches. Not criticizing it at all. I agree with ElfRosa, it'll probably help to encourage some people to grow roses.

The setting is gorgeous, defintiely staged just for the proposal. I think it’s probably a private residence, perhaps their own, you can make out a residential wrought iron fence in the back. Not like he could propose to Taylor Swift in public without utter pandemonium and chaos. I don’t think it will encourage others to plant a rose garden, they’ll just wish for a proposal like Taylor’s.

As long as people don't have outrageous expectations that their rose gardens will look like that year round! I agree it's lovely and anything that highlights roses is a good move.

Coincidentally, my guests arranged their proposal in my rose garden last week. I also have a rose arch — very romantic! They even hired a photographer.

@nippstress - zone 5 Nebraska that was my first thought as well - people will have outrageous expectations for what a rose garden should be.

When we come down to earth after seeing this highly staged media photo of the Swift and 'What's his name,' marriage proposal, we will realize that the last thing going through the minds of the majority of people who view the shot, is not being inspired in the least to begin a rose garden. If anything, those who were wowed by the lavish rose focused floral display, and contemplating the possibility of such a scenario in their own lives, are most likely figuring out which floral designer they can find who can duplicate the Swift event for themselves, not starting a rose garden. Rose gardens are real life work and dedication, grounded in reality, not a celebrity inspired fantasy.

@Moses, Pitt PA, cold W & hot-humid S, z6 although I understand what you're saying, I think there is already a well-established "romantic roses influencer crowd" (launched during the pandemic) who do try to replicate such fantasy landscapes. It felt like this trend was starting to fade a bit (as people realize it takes a great deal of time, money, and skill to create and maintain such a garden) but these photos will likely relaunch it into high gear.
