Yes navy tile in the shower is over kill. If you tire of a navy vanity it is easy to swap out in the future. Tile is not. I presume this bathroom will see a lot of different users over the years. And tastes will change. Go neutral in the shower and on the floor. Go as colorful as you’d like with paint and vanity.

But you need to consider shower floor and you should show the exact bath tile floor or a link.

Would suggest you work out your entire color scheme before making a definitive selection on any one item. Would definitely involve your daughter in making selections as this will primarily be her bathroom. Whatever you select for flooring make sure it has some grip.

Master bathroom = primary bathroom.

I got confused when I started dreading the post!

I would not do a full shower in a dark blue tile or any dark tile. It will make the space dark, once it starts to get used/old, it will always look dirty ... and you can't see the big spider in the corner!

Our previous house had dark green tile in a couple of bathroom showers and it made a huge difference when I remodeled to lighter tiles.

I assume you are hoping your daughter will leave your nest and have a nest of her own. Your house, your vision. The selection of materials for this bathroom should complement the colors and finishes already set in the house. Don't go off on some wayward tangent.

Agree with Jan on just one wall of navy tiles in the shower.

I would take that same tile up the shower walls. I love navy, I would bring it in with art on the walls, and use gold or brass as well, it looks amazing with navy. Then the room will feel expansive. For the mosaic tile in the shower floor, you could select one with grey and navy and tie the room together.

I love this wavy tile! Would this be used on all three walls in the shower or used with a contrasting tile? I thought this would look nice with a navy vanity. Any thoughts?

I like white and bright in a bath, so I like the white but there are folks on here who say this is harder to keep clean with all the texture - do you have a smaller locally owned tile store near you? i have found they are super helpful with selecting tiles - they also work closely with my tile pro so there are no issues and everything gets ordered properly

If you pick out floor tile, non slip, that can continue as shower floor tile, the bath will look bigger. Shower requirements for smaller tiles would mean the floor have small tiles which would give you a “design” that is not overpowering to other family members. I love navy and white or “whitish.”. Gray, no plus a very dated idea that is a bit depressing. Shower walls with a glossy reflecting shiny navy on one wall plus white could be very pretty.

Body wash, no soap scum. Still wouldn’t do textured tile in shower.

I used 12x24 floor tiles in my master bath and ran the same in my shower. I was hoping on mixing it up this time. Here is my sister’s bathrooms with subway tiles which many are saying so easy to clean. I did go to a local tile store and didn’t really like some suggestions. As for the tile contractor, they are good at what they do, but basically don’t tell you what to choose. I live near the Jersey shore so coastal is usually the vibe.

I'm definately set on a 48" navy vanity with an undermount sink and quartz top ... The bathroom is not that big, and I was wondering if a navy tile in the shower would be over kill.

I like blue for a bathroom -- I think most people do.

In a small bathroom, I'd be careful of excessive navy. If you're doing a tile shower, maybe you could go with a single wall of navy /keep the rest white or cream. And I'd go with a white or cream counter top to brighten things up -- I'd consider recycled glass to get a nice shiney /reflective look, which can brighten /enlarge the feel of the room.

I'd suggest you go with a shower curtain instead of a difficult-to-keep-clean glass shower door. A floor-to-ceiling shower curtain is a great look, though not cheap.

I would not go with a patterned floor either. Flooring is expensive /troublesome to replace, and patterns will fall out of favor. Instead, consider a patterned rug.

For a small room, I'd think about a smaller tile. I'd also consider a linoleum (or similar) floor; I much prefer the linoleum in my kitchen over the tile in my bathrooms. The linoleum is softer and warmer. No grout that needs cleaning.

Agree. If you're really in love with that tile, perhaps this is another reason to go with a single navy wall.

I don't think you mentioned the shower floor. I'd go with a shower pan, which costs less, lasts longer and is guaranteed to be sloped perfectly. With a tile floor, you're at the mercy of your tiler's skill.

I like your sister's varigated blue tones. I like the mixture.

The blue vanity is very striking. Having said that, one star in a room is enough. Be careful with busy tiles, for one, they

are on their way “out”. I’ve used that wave tile 10 years ago in a client’s bathroom, so it has been around for

a while. I would go nuetral for the rest of the tiles and accessories with navy towels, etc..
