I like the wider planks, doesn't mean you can't install those in a small house, it will make the rooms seem larger than with narrow planks.

Super wide? Yea, I see the decorator ideas. They love to experiment. There's some narrow engineered hardwoods out there. Not gonna find them in retail stores as they're stuck on imported wide plank they get for cheap and mark 'em up to the moon.

How's this look? 3/4" x 3 1/4" engineered. Nice thick wear layer. $9 to 12 bucks a square foot.

I'm not experimenting, have done it in my daughter's small towhouse and not only did it look great but the matte finish didn't show any claw marks from her big 65 pound goldendoodle.

Wide is fine, but super wide could look out of scale in narrow walkways. I'd stick with something 6" wide or under, which gives you plenty of options. We did 5.5-6" planks in our tiny house and our cottage/cabin (180 and 240 sq ft respectively) and both looked great.
