Sage green naturally ties into the trees and water around the house, giving it a grounded, natural look that blends well with the setting.

I would go with a muted sage, not too bright, so it doesn’t fight with the warmth of the roof. Look for tones with gray/beige undertones.

Use cream for trim and shutters, not a bright white — cream will warm up against the roof and create harmony.

If you did a warm olive, it would go with the roof.

We just purchased the house and roof is only 1 year old.

OK, so then 20 years or so before it is replace. You will be needing to incorporate the roof colors then into the siding.

Colors that look too dark in the store (or online) look much lighter on the exterior of a house.

My daughter wanted a sage color for the exterior of her home. I suggested trying a sample of SW Pewter Green.

Her initial reaction was that it was darker than what she wanted for her home. I knew that it would be quite a bit lighter on the exterior of her home - so, I purchased a sample of it and made a large poster board with a couple coats of paint for her (so she would be able to move it to different sides of her home).

She was surprised at how much the color lightened up when outside in the daylight (especially when sun was bright outside - even though she has quite a few trees) vs. how it looked on the color strip.

I had about eight different "whites" that I had purchased when I was deciding on a color for my house. My house faces east and receives a lot of sun - I didn't want a stark white. I brought all of my samples over to her house in order for her to select a trim color. I think that she selected SW Alabaster - but I may be wrong about that.

I don't know why, but so many of the programs alter the roof color. Where with an orange brown roof I would use cream and a sage green like Clary Sage, but your roof is a purple red brown, not an orange brown like the outside walls.

With the purple tones you can't have as much yellow in the whites or in the greens.

Just painting the trim and getting rid of the shutters will go a long way in updating the look of the home,

But take note to how orange the exterior walls are next to the roof. . .

Using a brown that matches the roof would be an improvement. . .

If you want a green, it should be a much bluer green than the other suggestions.

I love the Sage Green below, but the rendering changed the roof color.
