a measurement of the room would help. including the sectional measurements.

Have you ever tried to move it to the inside wall where that sofa table is along the wall..

(you'd have to enter the room along the outside windows).

Where does it break apart? just at the corner?

We haven’t tried that. It breaks at the corner.

Unfortunately, it would be much too long for that corner

Seems to me your room requires more seats facing the TV and the chaise is just in the way.

Here is your room with a sectional that is eqial length in both dimensions.

Maybe choose a sectional with a matching ottoman and sliding over the top table.

I believe some sheers could soften without taking away the view maybe a longer coffee table some throws a little color or texture in pillows

You've got a nice room to work with. I would paint the kitchen and the living room the same color to connect the two. I'd suggest a warm white.

I think your furniture layout works well and as @BeverlyFLADeziner suggested you could add a section more on the left facing side. As you look for furniture select another secional that has a more tailored look, while still keeping the comfort. Things like straight arms and addition of pillows help to achieve that. When selecting materials look for warm colors that go with the flooring. I like to keep the big pieces neutral so I can change up pillows and accessories from time to time, but that if a matter of preference. The blue sectional that is picture looks nice too though if you love a color.

If the above the mantle is the best place for the tv than I would lower it about 6" and hide the cords. Instead of the floor lamp place a console table behind the sectional and add a table lamps. Go with a large coffee table so everyone has a place to put up their feet while watching a moving. You might want to lose the console table you currently have and replace with a bench for additional seating when needed.
