FNB pointing … ie pick a shade of white

I have seen Balboa Mist used successfully in a few different rooms. It’s a ”greige”.

I love Healing Aloe. I have it in our beach house bedroom and at home throughout our foyer and stairway.

I would paint all bedrooms a white. I’m using SW Pure White in my new Florida home.

BM Simply White is popular too.

When choosing your white consider you exposure. I’m using SW Alabaster in my North facing great room and the beige undertobes are appearing which is what I want.

While colors can be beautiful, a clean slate makes it easier and move in ready.

It makes it super easy to paint over for the next owner if they choose.

My daughter suggested SW City Loft. She did her whole house in it. (This is the color from the website--not my room but I wish it was!)

I would match the trim I think. It's not for you, it's to look bright in photos and showings.

I came to say the same as Pal - match the trim. When I got thoroughly sick of Silver Sage in my MBR, I painted it the same as the trim - SW Off-White (I think the number is 1095). I’m very pleased with the results.

I'd do something in a light neutral. Many "whites" aren't a true white but have a subtle undertone.

All the public rooms in our house are painted a color very close to that in your photo, Jojoco: BM’s Pale Oak. It looks beautiful with white woodwork.

Will you be showing the house furnished, staged or empty? I think that could make a difference. Regardless, I would vote for some contrast against the white trim, but I don't think anyone is going to not buy a house that checks all or most of their boxes over the paint color in one or even two bedrooms. The trim work, cabinetry, flooring and counters are all bigger ticket items and more work to change. Wall paint is one of the easiest things to change when you move in and also the most likely thing to suffer damage in the move out and move in process. I would definitely go light in the guest room, but a master bedroom can have more color. What color depends on the room and what is going to be in it -- including the light.

I agree with Lascatx's reasoning. A friend's bachelor friend (male) is getting ready to sell his house in a desirable neighborhood. His house will sell for many reasons besides paint colors. Perhaps consult with a realtor (but I think you're a former realtor? Is that correct?).

If you decide to paint, then it all depends upon the room and the lighting. My house is painted in shades of white, and they were chosen based on lighting in each room.

I'm one of those who can't stand white or gray walls. It makes me feel physically cold. I'd suggest an off white with a hint of yellow underneath like BM Mayonnaise. On line, the color reads much stronger than in RL so don't go by that.

We had paint custom mixed but i think it is probably something similar to KSWLs suggestion. A pale neutral deep enough to contrast with our white trim, but not white. It works great with the light our house gets. i am one who prefers the furniture, art, rugs stand out, not the paint. I will say we live in a warmer climate, lots of sun, etc. A colder climate might do well with a bit warmer color, but i wouldnt go too dark. (Tina Marie)

I prefer some warmer shade that contrasts a bit with white trim and not very dark. I don't think it matters all that much as long as it's neutral and not anything close to gray.

The interior of our house is a very pretty creamy white with a hint of yellow. It was a custom color so I’m going to see how that would look.

And we will be showing it furnished.

I'm a fan of warm white walls as well but I would look at sold houses in your price range just to get an idea of what is popular.

Jojoco, your DD’s inspiration photo above looked so familiar. I was deleting a lot of photos yesterday and ran across this screen shot I had saved for the pale blue color. I’m not usually a ’blue decor’ person but this was so soft and pretty. It’s Dew Drop.

I like a soft neutral with white trim. I’ve used BM Edgecomb Gray with much success in several rooms at our main house and in our lake condo bedrooms (before it burned). It is more beige than gray in all the places I’ve used it. I plan to use it again in our condo (currently being rebuilt) in all rooms since we’re planning to put it on the market and not furnish it.

Our house in SC was painted BM Elephant Tusk throughout with some shade of off white trim. I would not have even repainted were it not for the many large holes everywhere from the previous owners many wall hangings. It made it easy though to just go with the same color rather than trying all kinds of samples. As a buyer I think it's preferable to have a neutral shade rather than blue, green, etc. Especially if it's freshly painted, it's easy to move right in and live with it rather than finding a color you just can't tolerate. Thinking about this I decided I'll grab a quart of Elephant Tusk and try it on the walls at our lake place. It's being repainted and I'd like a lighter shade - don't have time to try a lot of samples and I know I like this color.

I recently watched Youtube videos by two realtors who are focused on advice for sellers, and they both suggest white for selling.
