Because you have a young child, nothing right now. A lighter less intense gate will work well enough if you want to change. The carpet is softer when the child begins going up and down and playing on the stairs soon.

Not sure what advice you are looking for. New wall color? New carpet color? New stair surface like hardwood? Decor? New lighting? New railing? Or even bigger changes like changing the stairs themselves by installing a landing and a turn?

Move the leaning mirror. It is an accident waiting to happen with a young kid running around.

Find artwork you love to replace the cow. (Unless you love the cow.)

Sometimes those gates are tricky to open - it's nice that you have a trampoline that can be used to hop over the railing . . . 😉

Kendrah is right - the first thing I would do is move the leaning mirror. I can't help but envision a trip to the hospital due to the mirror crashing down and cutting someone.

I would do a kids' art wall. The main thing is to contain it so it looks purposeful. you could paint rectangles with magnet paint and then place your child/children's art work inside the perimeter of each rectangle

My kid is 1… so we will keep the stairs carpeted for now she can not get to the leaning mirror we have a gate up stairs in the hall wall I’m just waiting from my husband to hand and archer it. I’m just looking for paint color ideas and artwork, lighting

Your paint color should directly relate to the furnishings in your main living spaces. If you aren’t prepared to paint all areas of the upper hallway and downstairs then just leave it as is and then plan accordingly. Post photos of your downstairs living spaces if you want a paint recommendation that works throughout.

I like the cow art! Just hang it a little higher and you're done.
