How many people regularly sit at the table? An oval table will make it easier to slide in. You certainly want rounded corners in that tight spot. If you don't use it daily and you do want to use the under-seat storage, you might look at a drop-leaf table.

No chairs so I assume you only use the benches. I would have a custom oval made so it's thinner by half what a usual table is. This gives you room for your plate and doesn't protrude into the walk way.
