I have porcelain tile which does not absorb the water or change color. Of note, after the renovation was complete the shower pitch still left standing water, so we squeegee the floor after each shower so no standing water.

We squeegee and completely dry the floor with towels after each shower the discoloration seems like it must be coming from underneath and it doesnt change as the floor dries

Yes, because it was not built properly most likely. To change the floor will require almost a full gut at this point.

No need to gut anything. Lay porcelain tile over the existing with plenty of pitch. That's a TCNA approved solution.

When the liner is flat on the floor, there is no patchwork solution. That skin soup trapped in it has to smell like death. Full redo.

@KT Builders when the floor tile is removed will it be easy to tell if the liner is too flat? The original contractor said there is a sufficient pitch.

The liner should be on top of the sloped portion. Not flat on the floor.

The contractor confirmed that there was a pre-slope under the liner and then sloped mortar on top. if we remove

the tile does it make sense to waterproof the mortar so it can’t reach the liner?

@Delta Systems could someone else tell what the issue is by looking at it in person? I’m thinking I need an expert opinion before proceeding.

If the tile is adhered (set in the thinset) properly the pan will not be reusable after removal.
