Spring Mystique FFO

Yesterday the bloom opened. A bit darker, smaller than normal and not the greatest opening. Short scape but that is okay. This is not typical for this daylily to bloom this late. Unfortunately last night something got into the garden and chewed off the remainig buds since I had removed the cloche top. Odd that our front cam did not pick up anything(ie deer) in the front garden other than the neighbors cat walking along our front sidewalk.

Spring Mystique - FFO for this season.At least it bloomed.

Hopefully the other two daylilies will get a chance to bloom. I guess I should have sprayed and will do so tonite. We are dropping down in temps over night into the 50-40's range. But daytime is staying within the 70's to 80 during the day.

Nice bloom with a pretty pattern! So sorry something got the other buds. Whatever ate them must have been stealthy to evade the camera.

Thanks all for the comments. I purchased quite a few dip patterned daylilies this year so hoping to get some pollen to use on Spring Mystique next year if the bloom timing works out.. I just sprayed again the other two daylilies with buds to hopefully see them bloom too. If not, then I'll have to wait till next year.

That's a pretty thing. With the cooler temperatures the pattern stands out. Odd about not seeing the culprit behind the bud removal. Considering the time of the year you may need to call Ghostbusters if it continues..........Maryl

The bloom is indeed pretty. It seems no matter when they bloom we still have to be on critter alert!!
