Kitchen tool cleaning question

last month

I've got a juicer that my late wife purchased at an estate sale, but never used. The top is made of grey tinted transparent plastic, and has a scrummy looking film on the inside.

The dishwasher didn't get it off. Rubbing alcohol didn't do it. Vegetable oil didn't do it. The other chemicals I can think of trying are relatively nasty, and might damage the plastic.

I can scrape it off with my fingernail, but that's not a practical way to clean the whole thing.

Any suggestions?
