Mtn, the lame' jacket

last month

Winter white wool satin. Champagne matte taffeta (it would have to be the yellow leaning champagne) , and blue satin because you wear blue. For the first two I think you could add some color somewhere, up around your neck maybe, jewelry. But obviously my general preference is monochromatic as a base. With the winter white pants maybe the margin of an Hermes scarf showing right inside the lapels

And I just thought this is a blouse you would like in general, although this model wears it kind of sloppily in this color.

I like it w head-to-toe black if the jacket is open, but prefer cream if the jacket is worn buttoned (as I often do).

So when i read the comments about Zappos, this is the ad that I saw in the string 🤣

Having fun with Pal's suggestion. I would not wear the scarf quite this way but this was how I found it on TRR. My DDs have several vintage Hermes (and come to think of it, one or two of mine) that could work. I let them have them because I don't like square scarves. But I could look at what they have.

This outfit is for no particular purpose, by the way, even though the jacket first came up in my gown thread.

Is the fabric lamé or brocade? It looks brocade to me. To me, lamé is a lighter weight fabric that does not have a pattern or not much of a pattern, while brocade is more of a suit weight fabric which has some sort of pattern that is sometimes raised.

This is what I call lamé. I always think of it as a 1940s slinky evening gown fabric, something Nora (of Nick and Nora fame) would have worn.

I think of a brocade as looking similar to this, although the pattern can be geometric, organic, floral, etc.

    This is it in person

This looks like the upholstery on the heat lamp chairs they used for getting your hair colored in the salon my mom went to in the 1960s and 1970s. That's not necessarily bad.

  • last month

    🙄

  • last month

Well it's kind of a 60s regency upholstery pattern, that brocatelle, puffy surface.

  • last month

Hopefully you'll share some outfits when you wear it!

I love the looks proposed with head to toe black underneath. But then I have a thing for black.

With the scarf like that, it could look great with pale blue pants too.

I think it looks gorgeous and I think you should sport it at some point during the April in Pennsylvania weekend.

I think it is a beautiful brocade! Very classic!

I think with a bit of some color inside the lapel, like Hermes something you will not wash out as you fear

These are actually a best seller in Puma. Pumas are comfortable.

Stylistically they are kind of so terrible they are interesting

The jacket looks amazing no need for a scarf..love the simple classic jewlery with it....I see adding classic black pants..or white pop collar blouse with jeans..fun boots or shoes

  • last month

Hey, it kinda reminds me of the jacket DS wore for his wedding reception! 😬

  • last month

Maybe rather than a scarf to prevent your feared washout, a piece of costume statement jewelry

  • last month

The jacket looks GREAT on you! I also prefer it with the classic jewelry and no scarf ...

(maybe I should be embarrassed lol but I have spent the last hour looking at gold sneakers and loafers. )

Oh good, Pal, I will get right on it.

I kind of feel that black would be a cop out, but of course it will work.

I woke up with that stupid lipstick on BTW

  • last month

The jacket looks great on you. The scarf is not needed.
Would love to see it with dark jeans.

Best lipstick remover: coconut oil from the kitchen pantry. Tastier IMHO than EVOO

  • last month

    I used eye makeup remover!

  • last month

We need to know what brand of lipstick has that kind of staying power!?

  • last month

oh, it's really stupid. Maybelline! I bought it years ago to wear to a family wedding, in a few colors. Lord knows what possessed me to get this red. I have 2 other shades, too

I have been wearing the same (pink) lipstick, custom made, for about 20 years. It does stain my lips a bit but I am always reapplying it. I think I look very washed out w/o lipstick. So I bought this product so I would look good in pics without having to keep fussing w lipstick.

Not sure if you've ever tried this kind, but first you apply the color, then wait a minute, then apply a gloss.

Someone once told me that the drugstore brands have R&D budgets that no one can match and they are the source of all innovation in cosmetics.

@palimpsest, that last one gave me visions of Mick Jagger. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Mtn, the jacket is gorgeous on it’s own with a little jewelry imo.

I have a similar type of lipstick from Chanel that has been my go-to when I need something that lasts, but of course costs a lot more and I have yet to really find the perfect color for me in the Chanel options. I am going to look at the Maybelline.

  • last month

Pinks are not good for me, ever, and reds only if they are brownish. LOL here is the only recent ”head on” pic where I am making a normal face. On vacation with v minimal makeup and yeah, a baseball cap.

    Red is scary.

    This is closer.

But I think this works better.

  • last month

Sue, you look very pretty! I think these lipsticks all skew very intense IRL because you cannot paint just a little on, it is an opaque layer. SO I'd always go with the lightest one. Your last one I agree

  • last month

I have a mac lipstick that I like a lot. The color is called “I Deserve This.” But it doesn’t last very long.

  • last month

I think that last one is a tad too dark, prefer the other

  • last month

IRL it is not that dark! It is also semi-sheer? so it isn’t that heavy at least the way I apply it.

  • last month

Oh I thought that was one you were considering!

I have the Maybelline ones in several colors, lighter for summer, darker for winter. I think it is impossible to use one up. I tossed a couple of the lighter ones that have been in my car for too long yesterday. They do have staying power.

  • last month

In vitually trying on lipsticks, I’ve come to realize just how thin my lips are! Thanks a lot.

  • last month

I bought the Cranberry Maybelline and the color is good, but I am used to something more sheer, which is good and bad. I don't think i'd wear it under normal lighting conditions.

  • last month

I couldn't get the try on to work. I uploaded a photo I had available ( which was from about 10 years ago before I went gray) just to play with. I could not get it to try on......

I know I've shared before but I have been a major CoverGirl Outlast fan for probably 15 years or more. It really does last. Given the high praise for the Maybelline product, I 'd love to try it out too.

    I am challenged

  • last month

    huh, wonder why

Too bad, it's kinda fun. Better than buying it and trying it once and going "oh no." For me the technology is the only reason I bought it.
