I came on here to post this. I am so shocked. She was always my favorite actress. I loved her quirky style and saw all her movies. I didn't know she was 79, but then everyone's age surprises me, even my own. We're losing the good ones.

Quirky is exactly the word Id use to describe Diane, along with talented. Funny, but 79 doesnt seem so very old to me. Guess Im kidding myself.

Ugh I hate this - she was such fun, so original. I know none of us get out of here alive, but still.... too soon.

Looking through her movies, Something’s Gotta Give is where I know her best, followed by the Father of the Bride movies. That might be it, which is surprising considering how many roles she’s had. She’s certainly been memorable where I’ve seen her! My wife especially loves her.

Just now came across my feed. Did NOT expect it at all. Yes, quirky and very talented.

I was shocked too, and had the same thought: 79 seems too young. I guess partly because she seemed so spunky.

FOAS, an obit I read said that her favorite movie was Father of the Bride. I think she characterized it as ”sweet.”

Very sad news. She adopted her children when she was in her fifties, so they are only in their twenties.

So sorry to hear this...she was very talented and she seemed like she would've been a fun friend to have if you knew her.

Shocking especially because we did not know she was ill.

    Very sad.

What I liked about her was that she was authentic in a way most of Hollywood isn't. At 79, she was still beautiful and aged naturally. None of those big guppy lips, long blonde extensions, and multiple facelifts. She will be missed.

Wow that house is wonderful, bbstx! Now I want to see the others she did.

Seems too young to me as well. I'm glad she left such a legacy - she was a photographer as well, I believe.

    79 is too young.

I've loved her since I was a teenager. I haven't been able to bring myself to watch Woody Allen for years and it is a shame because I do love Annie Hall.

I’ve loved and admired Diane Keaton ever since I first saw Annie Hall. What iconic style, what energy, such individuality! There’s no one like her. Tonight I what watched Shoot the Moon (one of my favorites) and then Annie Hall (I braved Woody Allen) for the umpteenth time, and cried at the end. She was wonderful. Such a loss.

I too was shocked in more ways than one. She was such a unique and talented actress and I love watching her films. It’s hard to believe she was 79, so close to my own & DH’s ages. It’s another seemingly untimely death that leaves us in thoughtful gratitude for every day we’re still here and healthy.

Trail, that gave me chills. Human decency is something we can’t afford to lose. I hope there are those in the younger generations to step up fill their shoes.

Trail.... I said that exact same thing to my daughter last night. Three of the people I admired all my life died in just a few weeks. Redford and Keaton were my favorite actors for as long as I can remember, and Jane Goodall was my idol.

Keaton adopted both of her kids after moving back to Los Angeles from New York in the 1980s, having admitted that she didn't initially think motherhood was something she would ever be ready for.

From the article about the house posted above. I'd say the kids are not in their 20s.

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about that movie she did with Goldie Hawn and Bette Midler, where it ends with Leslie Gore's "You Don't Own Me", and the three of them dancing. It really speaks to me these days. I knew I'd miss any of them being gone. All of them, is going to hit close to home.
