@PPF. Yes it is an oil based product. I have not tried anything on it because I wasn't sure what was best to use. We have not talked to the stainer yet. We were away and the stainer was not here today. My husband will discuss this with him. I just want to make sure I know what should be used to get it off without damaging the balusters.

Here is a picture of a couple of the balusters. I still have to go around and see how many more are affected.

Do not try to remove it without first contacting the person who did the staining. It is his/her responsibility to apply the deck stain without causing issues on other portions of your property.

@dani_m08 I am not going to do anything until my husband speaks with the stainer. I just want to make sure whatever the stainer uses to try and get this stuff off doesn't destroy the balusters. That will just be a whole other nightmare as I do not think there is a way to get these baluster replaced without taking the whole handrail apart. I want to avoid that.

You use nothing. The stainer removes the mess he made. Were you to attempt to remove something from metal you really need to know what the metal is and what the finish is first,

Ok all is good. Stainers showed up and my husband talked with them. They said they planned on taking care of it.
