It finally rained!

it's been over 6 weeks & the last rain was a 2 hour drizzle. I do not worry about the grass & barely water flowers. they tie my sewer bill with my water consumption so it's a double whammy. I was concerned for my Linden tree & wanted to help some transplanted liriope so I used the soaker a few times. If you look to the left of the tree you'll see a lush green area. Just my luck, that's a patch of creeping charlie. the green patch to the right is clover. in the 2nd photo my mutant terrier rescue treed 2 squirrels. then the clever girl hid behind that patch of ditch lilies to try to ambush them.

Isn't it wonderful to FINALLY have some rain!!

Smart little devil your dog is, did her ambush attack work?

she caught 2 moles last week but she does more yard damage than the moles. one time while digging all you could see was her butt & tail. she's come close but hasn't caught a squirrel yet. i'd rather she didn't. they can do some damage. when i was a boy a neighbor's beagle caught one & the dog got the short end of the stick. he needed a dozen stitches. the other night she cornered an opossum. i had to carry her off. i think terrier should be spelled terror.

It stormed late this afternoon, dummy me left the windows open so had to wipe up all that. Oh well, small price to pay for some precipitation. It's only drizzling now but not going to complain, will take anything we can get. I hope the prediction for showers tonite and tomorrow holds.

Love that "you can't see me" pose. lol

We got a little rain here too. We were supposed to get a couple inches and only got about a quarter inch though so it was a little disappointing. Some places close-by got more than we did.

Our drought essentially ended earlier this month when we got nearly 4 inches of rain in a little over half a day. Then 10 more dry days followed by over an inch of rain (so far) last night and this morning. Famine or feast...

creeping charlie grows horizontally & has shallow roots. i went after with a garden rake this morning & removed most of it. then i spread some grass seed.

OMGosh....I can't believe it is pouring here! It sounded like a train roaring. Started about an hour and a half ago and I thought it was going to last 15mins, but it's still going strong. Downpours. So happy about that, since the last time they forecast, I barely got an inch after 3 days of drizzle. I can't wait to go out and check the rain gauge. Perfect timing. We were able to remove the remaining overgrowth in the bed we are doing over and planted some pots of shrubs and moved a shrub and some perennials into the bed this weekend. And this morning I got out there and planted a couple of dozen Narcissus bulbs, right before the rain. Yay!

Drought during the summer is a pain but as long as you get enough rain in the fall to allow your plants to go into the winter, replenished, then you're chances of everything doing well next season, are increased. :-)

Hope a lot of you are also getting enough rain!
