Kitchen cabinet and wall paint color suggestions

We're looking to paint the cabinets and walls of our kitchen/living area since we can't upgrade the old granite right now. I'm struggling with paint colors. The wall paint color would extend to the great room which is open off the kitchen and the same flooring is throughout the space. I was looking at maybe SW Urbane Bronze for the bottom cabinets but not sure what to do about the top. The kitchen wall with the window is tiled all the way to the molding. Any ideas?

Those look like gorgeous, high-end wood cabinets. I wouldn't paint them.

The wood provides a lot of warmth in the space, which is nice with the tile floors - if it were me i would remove the pot rack and add some nice pendants, then change the cab hardware instead of painting the cabs

Agree with not painting the cabinets. Done right it may cost more than new granite. Maybe in addition to la_la Girl's suggestions you remove the piece behind the hood so the granite is not so in your face. Maybe you can match the other tile.

Thanks for the comments and ideas! Any thoughts on paint color for the walls? We're definitely doing that as that yellow/cream is pretty drab.

I actually quite like your cabinets and the granite.

The pot racks need to go and I would probably remove the extra wood crown that is out side the immediate kitchen.

Since the paint color will go into the great room and up the stair case, take a lot of time to select that because it isn't just about the kitchen. It will need to go with your furnishings as well. A nice gray/beige or sage green could look really good.

I personally think Urbane Bronze is too severe for base cabinets.

for the uppers, I would choose a muted blue and the base a deeper version of the color you choose. Sample BM Santorini Blue

Another vote to not paint the cabinets. It isn't going to update the space in the way that you think it might.

I also agree, no paint on those beautiful cabinets. The pot rack definitely has to go. I like the granite you already have too. Its just the walls, that need a much better color I would pick a light shade of aqua, or a light shade of green and give the room a bit of interest. I would also add a runner on the floor and some color in accessories, rather than so sterile looking.

^ oooh that looks nice -

a bamboo shade (mounted above the window) will bring in a lot of texture and warmth -

Another vote for not painting the cabinets. Also, remove the hanging pots. (Chicagoans’ mockup showed how it would really open up the space. It looks fabulous.) If you’re thinking of redoing the kitchen someday, it would make more sense to save up for that starting now. Painting the cabinetry would simply subtract from your savings for another beautiful kitchen.
