why are you painting any of the cabinets..they look brand new. I'd get a slab of granite for the island top .

it's just too white for my taste. And considering we are re-doing the island in any case, I am trying to get this done too. The current island countertop is too busy for my liking, but ideally I do not want to touch the perimeter countertops. Just trying to get a more cohesive aesthetic under the circumstances. And I really like the tajmahal (or the porcelanosa calacatta antico) for the island countertop. Hope this helps.

if white is the dislike then address the large expanse of white walls..its a greater area than the base cabinets of a few number. rattan or textured window treatments... a warmer paint color for the walls would be a smarter choice.

bamboo or textured shades/ there are tons of nice neutrals for walls....did you notice how much wall area you have in stark white?..... your stated complaint.

You are designing an open kitchen space. Can please you post pics of all shots of the entire room that your kitchen opens to? The color you consider for your kitchen need to look right with this entire space.

Notice in your inspiration pics there is one countertop with two tones of cabinet. That is the maximum you want in your space. Two different cabinets with two different countertops is too disjointed.

I understand and empathize with the white feeling too cold for your tastes. I think part of it is the starkness of the white with that solid grey counter, the contrast of dark hardware, all of the stainless, and the vastness of your ceilings. You could get softer edgecomb cabinets and still feel cold in here because of those other elements.

I don't know how many cabinets you have but I presume an $8-10k job for painting them all. And, it still might not feel warm in here.

1. I'd immediately swap out your hardware and wall lights for a brass tone the same as your pantry door handle and start to see if you can warm things up instantly.

2. Then, I'd investigate leaving the cabinets the color they are and getting new counters to replace the grey and the island.

3. If that is out of the budget, then get a wood top for the island and stain it to match the cabinets so you are not looking at two cabinet colors and two countertop colors.

so the backsplash is a great way to bring texture/warmth . I'd do that along w island top first.....before painting any cabinetry.

heres a tile that works w gray counter and white cabinetry along w beams and wood island. it might be wise to complete backsplash / how many areas? then assess the overall feel.

Edgecomb gray will look great on your cabinets! We have it in every room of our house and it plays very well with others. Benjamin Moore also lists a gray a little lighter than your counters as a complementary color to it.

That’s what I thought too. Let me add another pic of what surrounds the open kitchen. The reason the diff cabinet color for the island came about was because of these wood beams and if we could tie it all up…the door frames and doors are a similar color wood stain too throughout the house. But if it will be too much, perhaps we should stick with just 1 color for the cabinets…that’s where I am confused. We don’t want to re-do the perimeter, but would like something nicer on the island countertop. If any other ideas pop after seeing what’s surrounding the kitchen, please do pass them along! Thank you are all your inputs…appreciate it.

I would not be painting "new' cabinets.

I might be biased since I used BM Chantilly Lace for my cabinets when we built in 2021. I had my beams stained in a color that complemented my wood floors. I have all white cabinets/island and used Taj Mahal quartzite for all the kitchen counters.

Do you know the name of the quartz on the perimeter?
