Where to position second sofa?

We would like to add another couch so we can chat with friends when they come over, but we have an awkward living room layout. The wall across from the couch has the flatscreen TV and another wall is the fireplace.

I've attached a rendering of the room. Note that we no longer have the piano and the chair in the rendering can be moved to another room.

The two options I see are:

1. Put the second sofa on the left wall where the piano is in the rendering. Downside is that the two sofas are at an 'L' to each other, not across from each other.

2. Put the second sofa across from the existing couch, but that puts the second sofa with it's back to the TV. (We generally chat when people come over rather than watch a sporting event, etc. so not being able to see the TV wouldn't really be an issue for the folks on the 2nd sofa.)

Thoughts on these options? Other ideas?

I would not place the additional sofa under the TV, place it against the wall facing the fireplace.

IMO the TV can stay off when you have guests and place the other sofa on the wall where the piano was move the tree

Place the sofas across from each other and use a Samsung The Frame TV with an aftermarket picture frame from DecoTV Frames.

Here is my 75" Frame TV with DecoTV gold & black picture frame.

With sofas across from each other, you can also add two chairs where the tree and piano are, for even more seating.

If that window was gone the easy solution is to place the tv on that wall with the couches across from each other.

I'd place the tv in front of the window.

Unfortunately you don't have a ton of options. You could do the sofa facing the fireplace and then look at getting 3 swivel chairs - 2 facing the TV and then 1 in the nook between the TV and fireplace. This would allow anyone in the space to see the TV, converse, or face the fireplace.

Here is a recommendation. Lower the TV add a wall hung media cabinet

Move the wall art, add a tree

Make sure the end tables are large enough to support a table lamp.

You may consider putting a fixed glass window in the spot where the tv is now if tgat's an outside wall. The tv over the existing window won't be as important for natural light. At night or on cloudy days good led lighting is always going to be necessary.

Sofas in an L formation are great for conversation. Also, if you want to watch a game or movie with company, you can see the TV from both couches. put the second couch on the piano wall. As lisa and beverly illustrated.
