Do you have photos with a direct head on view of the garages?

It would be helpful to see the actual doors you are considering. The frosted glass doors are both heavy and very very expensive. They may be the right answer - but my goodness - they are going to be a big feature - much more visually inpactful than the front door / any other part of the house so it's an important choice

Are you posting jpeg pictures? That’s what you need. Try posting ONE; be sure to wait until the picture fully comes in (not faded) before hitting Submit.

I hope you have a good budget left over for those doors. We have a similar set-up to yours, but with 4 single garage doors. In late 2021 our single garage doors were each around $5K (composite, insulated, impact/hurricane rated).

They take up half of your front facade, so don't skimp out on them.

@chispa Would you share the brand of your garage doors, and whether you recommend them? We will eventually replace our 3 single garage doors and we'd like something very nice, since our garage faces forward. (I used Clopay on my last house and those doors were good quality, but that garage was built more than 15 years ago.)

We're thinking something with glass, like the ones below from Clopay, but certainly open to other brands. Don't need hurricane rating, but the garage is heated and we have cold Chicago winters so something with insulation is needed. We know they'll be expensive so we'd like to make this decision only once!

OP - sorry for hijacking the thread! But maybe you'd like the doors above too? Here's the link. The site has a visualizer so you can upload a picture of your house and get an idea of how different doors would look.

^^^^ I was thinking about something similar to that to recommend to the OP - not full glass - but something with a more modern look.

Thank you @chispa! When we get to that I’ll create a post for feedback on styles. It won’t be this year (just paid for a wedding and two big vacations- priorities! 😃)

@chicagoans, also if you do low windows like in your photo, make sure you can't see the ugly stuff in the garage! Someone in our neighborhood did similar doors and when I walked up to them, I could see all the garage junk they had piled on that side of the door. Some type of frosted/opaque glass would help. They tried updating a faux-Mediterranean and that garage door choice was a bad one. Just my opinion, LOL!
