Front entry door - hardware and lock advice

I’m planning to install a door as in the picture below. I’d like the long handle bar on the inside of the door. How does the locking mechanism work? Can I have just the bar on the inside and a regular handle/ smart pad on the outside? Any guidance will be appreciated.

I love the look. Is the lock a deadbolt?

The only lock that can realistically be used with that would be a deadbolt. The door would be open and free swinging unless the deadbolt is engaged.

I hav to agree a dead bolt is how to keep the extreior as simpla as the interior most key pads are pretty ugly

Many homes in my area have doors like this but our local building code or bylaws mean you also have to have a multipoint lock on your front door so people end up with a complicated set up. If you have a door like this it essentially is always locked. They are beautiful though.
