The linen is THE LOOK from what I've seen but to my eye it's very stark. I like color and the pattern adds some life to the room.

The plain curtains in the first photo are classic and would work in any room, whether there were patterns on the upholstery, rugs or walls.

The geometric pattern on the curtains in the second photo is a tired cliche, a pattern that was probably first seen in high-end fabric houses and is now available at places like Bed Bath & Beyond with grommet headings. And yes, the cool color (as shown on my monitor) doesn't work with the warmth of the rug.

I'd pick the plain linen panels--just make sure that they are full enough to do the windows justice. Sheers need to be about 3x the width of the windows. I would also prefer them with a French pleat heading on rings.

Thank you for your input! I'm ordering hooks to hang them differently. I think they'll look much better with a pleat heading too!

We don't know what you had up there before but have you considered getting a tan linen look panel with a subtle pattern?
