Your Fall window view

I love my kitchen window. When we remodeled the kitchen I knew I wanted soapstone again and a big window , this is East facing and 5’ + . My contractor designed the idea from pictures I showed him. This is a Zelcova tree. I just had it reshaped. I love it.

Please post a Fall view from a window so we can all ” see” together. 🙏

Great post. This is my favorite season and we just returned from a trip around PA visiting family and viewing the foliage. This year seemed to be especially colorful.

This is our view from our bedroom at our upstate PA place.

Apparently the view is interesting in both directions. This our S. Jersey home.

Back to PA - from the loft window in the detached garage.

@maire_cate the view is definitely improved today in PA and NJ . ( rhymes kind of 🙏😊)

Does this count? DH took this pic from the little balcony off our bedroom last night (at our beach cottage). Clearly not taken with a phone camera, haha. He’s got a big fancy lens.

My house is a NEW build. It came with NO landscaping, in a pine forest. I'm planting like crazy! The trees are still small...unimpressive. Nothing reaches my kitchen window....yet....

About 20 years ago (!) our gravel road was widened and paved. We planted about 25 trees and shrubs that fall. Favorite trees that I selected included gingko, dawn redwood, river birch, redbud and kousa dogwood. the nursery owner suggested bald cypress which I was unfamiliar with. Love them now.

Out my breakfast nook window. The tree in the foreground is a heptacodium. It is a wonderful plant. In September it was covered in fragrant tiny white blossom which attracts acres of bees and even a few monarchs this year, The white blossoms drop and then the brachts turn this lovely old rose color that lasts for weeks.

In my corner of the world, fall = wind, rain, blue sky, and rainbows

It is a windy and rainy day, but the sun and blue sky peaks theough occasionally

@Still trailing I live in Port Townsend, WA now. We used to live outside of Atlanta but moved to WA a few years ago. It is a quirky but wonderful place to have ended up.

Wow! @ Mimou-GW thats incredible. We love the Washington State coastal area. My DH’s sister lives in Bellingham and we have visited . We spent an smazing week on Vashon 8 years ago and rode bikes everywhere , we left our car at his sister’s house! Loved the lavender fields and everything about it.

Beautiful pics everyone! I keep forgetting to take some pics every day, but these are from a couple of years ago. It pretty much looks like this now.

Today everything in NJ (and across the country) is looking just wonderful after a beautiful evening last night.

Because we are having work done on the exterior, we have scaffolding up and the actual view includes metal crossbars, boards, a workers' coffee cup and sometimes a sandwich but I call this late October shot my Mary Poppins view because it makes me think of London

I should have had DH get a pic of me planting bulbs this morning !! 112 so far and 45 more to go tomorrow. I am planting a lot of different kinds of Alliums to try and deter the deer . We are having amazing gorgeous weather but they are forecasting 24 degrees Monday night. Extremely out of character for anytime of year here in the Shenandoah Valley but early November is insane . It's shirtsleeve weather today and sunny.

I am SO glad I started this thread. I have really enjoyed all the views. It's nice to " see".

@Feathers11 that trail is beautiful. Do you mind saying what general area of the country you're in? I wish I had something like that around here to go walk.

Trees are just now changing color around here. I took this photo of the gingko a few days ago. For some unknown reason, the other one (to the right just out of view) doesn’t turn yellow at the same time. They were planted at the same time.

I was cleaning up my tomato plants the other day and saw the monarch on the marigolds and then it hit on everything that was still blooming.

I’ve really enjoyed all the fall foliage. My favorite season!

@OutsidePlaying we saw several colorful butterflies yesterday fluttering through my still blooming purple asters . One brushed against me several times! Its going to be 24 Monday night I am sure we have seen the last. c

Jsk, I'm in the Chicago area. This particular trail is in the western suburbs in Kane County. It holds special memories, and I visit it seasonally. Once every few winters, I can get out there just after a big snowfall for some excellent showshoeing before the trails are packed down again. We haven't had a good ol' fashioned heavy snowfall since about 2021, from my recollection.

@nicole those Aspens! It’s one organism.. so amazing .

My tree is a burnt orange now. Wonderful to watch the evolving color.

@Still trailing...Actually not! :0) I write Landscaping articles for a local rag. I wrote a 3 part series on Aspen trees. See the one photo where some of the aspens are finished(My 1st photo with my house photo above it?)...no leaves at ALL? Those are related. See the group that still has leaves? Those are related. :0) Interesting fact...sister aspens, that are ONE organism, change leaf color at the same time!

Another fact....Aspen trees photosynthesize food not just from their leaves...but from their bark....all Winter long! That's ONE of the reasons your NOT supposed to wrap your Aspen trunks.

Photography is another of my hobbies. Published along with MY articles.

@nicole, are aspens mostly yellow when they turn or do they also turn orange and red?

    Still trailing thanked mtnrdredux_gw

@mtnrdredux_gw.....I has to do with the moisture content in the tree, then the amount of sunlight it's exposed to. Orange and red are part of their color spectrum...yes! Some years....we don't get a color change at all...it's too dry....the leaves turn brown...and fall off.

Oh, since they were all yellow in your photos I wondered if it were possible. Seems the aspens are no different from our deciduous trees in that respect. I am the only person on earth that hates fall colors.

Kebler Pass Colorado....had a LOT of red tones.....It's just a choice of what I'm shooting that day...:0) I can't get enough hummingbird shots...on land. Under water....it's nudibranchs. I get "stuck" on liking certain things....

My car window view. Our beach house is reached by this causeway; one of my favorite views from the driver’s seat! I stopped in the street to take this yesterday because the sky was so pretty.

Such beautiful views. Photos of natur always calm my soul.

Our main living area is on the second floor, so lower level can flood in a hurricane. :-/ So treetops and clouds are outside our two kitchen windows. Fall and Winter sunrises and sunsets have so much color.

The Gulf never disappoints, especially early mornings.

This dune lake is like a mirror on crisp, still morning. Between the houses is the outfall location and the Gulf beyond the dunes. This bridge is north of our house, so we cross it often. These views never get old.

I raked some leaves yesterday to fill wire baskets that I place around my hydrangeas that bloom on old wood. Our winters are getting colder and I get no blooms if I don’t insulate.

But Mother Nature is playing with us and it is supposed to be 25° tomorrow night 😳 not even winter yet. sigh

It rained last night till at least 2am, so I sure was surprised to see THIS this morning!

Quite a bit has melted already. It wasn’t enough to plow, roads are clear but I’m thinking they might be a little slick in places so I’m staying in for now.

We have mostly oaks, so just brown leaves, and buckthorn which is all the green. (Redbud in the top left corner)

Edit to show the next day. We didn’t get as much snow as some areas overnight.

We had a frost and light snow yesterday, too. Hopefully enough that it forces the remaining leaves to drop. Here are my hydrangeas with plenty of greenery still around.

@Feathers11 I've seen several snow photos on IG this morning. Those in the South seems a bit early for snow! Is that an outbuilding? It reminds me of the playhouse we built for our children.

    These were taken on Saturday.

After Sunday’s wind and temps below freezing the past 2 nights, the gingko leaves are gone and many of the leaves on the other trees are fading or gone as well. I’m bummed because i could enjoy the colors a little longer. And yes, parts of our area had snow flurries Monday morning.
