We are slowly renovating our house that was once an old cotton gin from the late 1800’s. The previous owners added a fireplace of epic proportions. They did a stone face, but for some reason, only did once side in stone, which looks very odd when viewing from the sides. I am scratching my head trying to figure out how to make it look right while not spending a ton to have a mason come in and fix the situation. Behind the fireplace is a bathroom, so I can’t just close it in to the two rooms on either side- we also have a catwalk that it stands proud into (beyond the doors of the bedroom and office on either side). I have considered painting the sides darker, but it would still look a bit like someone just decided not to finish the original project).
