99.999999% of the time, more than 1 island is a substitute for "interest" in an otherwise very bad design plan. The number of times that 2 islands is done well is quite small, and only in large, luxury kitchens.

What is the purpose and what size islands? I mean, one could have a 6lx6w island for butchering on, with a 6lx3w bar island for people to sit and eat and observe the butchering. Or if one is doing a kosher kitchen, you might want a 8lx6w with a sink, with a 8lx4w for your other food work. If its for something like special meal prep, you could do one island as the main prep island, and a smaller rolling island or a table for the special prep.
