DH had a 250 gallon fish tank in his office with South African cichlids. They were colorful and interesting - but they had a 'fish minder' company who took care of it.

If you look at the 8 o'clock position in the still photo in the original post, you'll see a vinyl electric cord cover leading off to the left. So, yes, plug in. The same is visible in the video.

A Zen sand garden isn’t supposed to entertain you like a fish tank. It’s for focus, clarity, and calm. Some people appreciate subtlety and mindfulness… the way it was achieved....amazing technology! I'd seen Dry Gardens before...people moving sand with wide blade rakes....this was totally different.
