What sort of "real sand" do you need?

Did you do a web search for maybe "sand for paint"?

I have looked at ”sand” textures available at box stores but it they not small enough and they’re synthetic products. I need natural sand, but not fine mortar sand. I guess i need to find out if mortar sand comes in different sizes. The first photo shows some of the sand that has been sanded down so the corner could be taped and mudded. The second photo shows a textured portion of a wall. Thanks to all who have responded.

It looks like you may need M-Sand or Manufactured Sand.

Big box home improvement stores sell sand. Not sure of the grain size but I've used it to improve soil drainage.

Maybe playbox sand? That's usually pretty fine and consistant. Manufactured sand was being used in the 50's, so it might be manufactured sand.
