Lighting for home office

Do you have any ideas or suggestions for lighting this home office? We're open to any suggestions: cans, chandelier, spots, sconces, strip-lights, task lights, etc.

The walls are Sherwin-Williams Blue Sky SW-0063.

Personally, I don't like can lights (except in the kitchen) and wouldn't use them in my study/home office.

You need to combine multiple layers of light, including natural, ambient, task, and accent lighting

Natural lighting - very important to me to have a lot of natural sunlight that fills the room (I like not having to turn lights on during the day).

Ambient lighting - overall illumination for the room, provided by an overhead light fixture + natural lighting.

Task lighting - focused light source, such as a desk lamp, provides direct light for tasks like reading or typing.

Accent Lighting: used to add warmth and visual interest to the space with fixtures like wall sconces or picture lights (or a floor lamp)

I think that lighting for your office is personal to you and your needs. Different people prefer different types of lighting when working.

Are there windows? North, east, west, or south facing? Window treatments? Doors? It looks like there’s light flooding in from the left bottom.

How big is this room? Will it be used for Zoom-type meetings? Mostly computer or paperwork? Regular visitors/clients? Additional furniture for seating for others?

The room is 11' x 12'4" with a 9'4" ceiling.

There's one east wall (left) window, 52" wide, 60" high. The desk/bookcase is against the 11' wall south wall.

Yes, computer, paperwork and an occasional zoom meeting, but no clients. We don't have plans for more furniture but might add one or two small pieces in the future. We like an open feel.

@dani_m08 Thank you again for the advice. We bought a "fandolier" from Amazon for the middle of the ceiling (chandelier + ceiling fan) and put 6000K strip-lights in the bookcase. It is functional and nice, although when the fandolier light is on, the small crystal accents give the room a bit of a "disco" feel. :-) The rug came from Incredible Rugs & Decor out of Boerne Texas, and is 100% wool.

No to the fandolier. If you need ceiling fan for circulation get one without a light, in white to blend in with the ceiling. Follow previous comments to incorporate ambient light ( could be floor lamps in the corners of the room away from the desk. Task lighting over the desk.
